A better future through better education is the right of every child.  The Sunrise Education Center provides all children in the area with opportunities and resources to achieve greatness.

The mission of Sunrise Education Center is to provide an educational environment in which all children are presented the opportunity to learn and experience the reality of developing academically, socially, emotionally and physically to create authentic learners that are able to correspond to the tasks in the home and workplace of today and tomorrow.

Sunrise Education Center is committed to the development of good citizens in the community.  Character education is an important part of the educational program of the school.  School-wide themes teaching good citizenship and the development of positive, appropriate behaviors will be taught on a regular basis.

Points of Pride:

• The Sunrise Education Center is an academic based charter school including grades K-8.  Our school is located in the small rural city of East Tawas.  We opened our doors in September, 1996.
• We emphasize small class size and individualized instruction.
• Sunrise Education Center emphasizes multi-aged classes.
• We have hands on materials as well as computer instruction, fine arts and field trips.
• We strive to develop in our school a strong sense of respect for individuals--not only the students, but also the staff.  Sunrise Education Center also strives to develop a strong sense of multicultural understanding.
